Secretary’s Report

 

President Donnia Mayfield brought the Thursday, May 14, 2009 Chamber meeting to order. There were 9 people in attendance. Donnia Mayfield presented the minutes from the April 2009 meeting. Beverly Pipenbrock made a motion to accept the minutes as the read, Brenda Beal seconded the motion. Motion carried. Brenda Beal presented the treasurer’s report. Jim Sander made a motion to accept with no changes, Beverly Pipenbrock seconded the motion. Motion carried.
 

Old Business:
Brenda Beal inquired whether or not there were bylaws set up for the Chamber of Commerce as of 2008. She also checked with the Secretary of State about Articles of Incorporating. Kenneth Shrum had prepared the Chamber Incorporation, but there were no bylaws recorded. Perryville Chamber sent a copy of their bylaws to Brenda for review. A committee has been formed with members Eva Dunn, Jim Sander and Scott Fetterhoff to begin work on Bollinger County Chamber bylaws.

The Bollinger County Fair Board has been tabled until the next meeting.
 

New Business:
Donnia Mayfield talked about Auto Tire & Parts 100 year anniversary. They are selling $1 chances on a big & muddy UTV.

Beverly Pipenbrock spoke about the smoke cessation that will be sponsored by St. Francis Hospital and The Bollinger County Health Department. This cessation is a 7 week program. St. Francis will provide smoking aid such as nicotine gum or patches. Beverly Pipenbrock made motion for Chamber to endorse this course and Linda Redeffer seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Donnia Mayfield gave a report on Habitat for Humanity. There is an application process day you can pick up applications at Bollinger County Abstract. There will be an application meeting at 10am May 30, 2009, First Baptist Community Center. This is for families who would like information about receiving a Humanity Home. May 28th will be a meeting at Bollinger County Abstract about Habitat Fundraising; $70,000.00 is what will be needed to start building. There have already been some donations toward this.

Donnia Mayfield spoke with Joe Russell and Beverly Filer about the need for help delivering hot meals, doing laundry and anything else to help the 500 linemen working for BREC do to the recent storm damages.

The next meeting scheduled to discuss fair date is June 2, 2009 5:00pm at the Bollinger County Abstract office.

  Health Dept. - Beverly Pipenbrock reported that the Health Department

  is busy taking care of the issues with the N1H1 virus. WIC is growing

  by leaps and bounds as the economy slows. The employees at the

  Health Department will be receiving new computer system training.

  Art Guild - Jeannie Eddleman gave a report about their First Friday June

  5, 2009 Ian Wille will be the featured artist at Westray Studio.

  Banner Press - Linda Redeffer stated that the progress edition went

  well.

Next meeting will be Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Whippoorwill Lake at noon.

Jim Sanders made a motion to adjourn, Beverly Pipenbrock seconded. Motion carried.
