costs at the museum, which serves as the office space for the chamber.

Chamber Memberships are due for2012
It is once again time to
renew chamber membership dues for 2012. Dues are $50 for business membership and
$20 for individual membership in the Chamber of Commerce. This cost is a great
bargain for the amount of benefits you will receive with your membership. Our
website lists your business name, contact information, location, and a free link
to your webpage on our Chamber Member Directory. Businesses of the Quarter
receive additional direct marketing. Members are on our Referral List. The
Chamber refers members to visitors, newcomers, businesses, and residents seeking
information about goods and services in our area. Our free eblast service allows
you to supplement your paid advertising and increase the number of people you
can reach with your special sale ad or event.
Renew or join the Chamber today and have the power and experience of our large
base of business members to network with.
Are You Getting the Most Out of Your Chamber Membership?
To get the most out of your Chamber membership you must take advantage of the
programs and services offered by the Chamber. A member may be disappointed in
their membership and feel they didn’t make a good investment in their chamber
dues. Your satisfaction can depend on your utilization of our services.
Have you sent your link to your business webpage to us to include on our
webpage?
Have you included all your business contacts for us to post? Making it easier
for potential customers to find you.
What about our extra promotional opportunities; in addition to your paid
advertising the Chamber offers eblasts of your specials, sales, and events, plus
posting on our Facebook page (you must send us the information by flyer, photo,
or PDF form), just email, mail, or bring the information to us.
How about attending different educational programs the Chamber keeps you
informed of?
Do you attending meetings and listen to scheduled speakers? Have a topic you
would like to see covered at one of our meetings by a speaker? Let us know and
we will try to set that up.
Our monthly Meet & Greet offers an evening opportunity to kick around ideas for
future projects, socialize, hear interesting speakers to keep informed, and of
course have refreshments served by our various hosting sites.
Your membership in the Chamber can be like joining a gym or fitness center, then
not showing up for the sessions or doing the exercises. You don’t take advantage
of the counseling sessions or other services offered by the club and feel you
made a bad investment because you didn’t get the anticipated results. You get
out of your Chamber membership what you put into it.
We hope you are ready to take advantage of our programs and networking
opportunities, which will allow you to feel you have made a good investment in
your Chamber membership this upcoming year.
We look forward to your involvement in the Chamber this year and thank you for
investing in your Chamber, your county, and your community.
Missouri Employer Reporting Services
Missouri
Employer Reporting Services assists employers with the federal and state new
hire reporting requirements on behalf of the Missouri Department of Social
Services, Family Support Division’s Child Support program. Please find attached
important information about New Hire Reporting in the state of Missouri. It
would be very helpful if you could share this information with your membership
to increase general awareness of reporting laws and legal requirements for
employers. New hire reporting expedites the collection of child support from
parents who have changed jobs and helps to locate non-custodial parents to
establish paternity and child support orders. We request that you distribute the
information to your membership by including it in a newsletter article or
placing it in a resource section on your website.
The attachment summarizes various methods of reporting and provides contact
information for Missouri Employer Reporting Services. If you have questions,
please visit our website at www.missouriemployer.dss.mo.gov or call Missouri
Employer Reporting Services at 888-663-6751. Help desk staff are available to
answer your questions Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Central
Time.

The chamber would like to have Welcome Bags made up with something from all the
businesses in Bollinger County. Another way to get your name in front of people.
We will make up the bags if the businesses will bring something by to put in
them. What ever type of promotional item you use would be acceptable. Bring
those items by the Bollinger County Museum or the Bollinger County Library for
us to make up the bags to give out to new businesses or new people to the area.
A free way to advertise! Let your presence be know by all who come to the area.
Call 238-1174 or email bocochamber@hotmail.com
with questions or comments.
We need your input on another project from the CIE at SEMO at Cape. They are
working with the high schools in the area and would like to know if any business
owners would be willing to be guest speakers for some of their programs:
If you are willing to be a speaker or would be interested in a student intern
phone the chamber at 238-1174 or email us at bocochamber@hotmail.com.
If you are interested in the downtown revitalization let the chamber know at the
above phone number and email. We need to hear from our members or any one who
receives our emails.
The CIE would greatly appreciate help in identifying entrepreneurs/small
business owners in the community who might be willing to speak to high school
students about entrepreneurship, the importance of downtown revitalization,
community involvement and other relevant subjects. There may also be an
opportunity for a student internship for a local small business through the RRCI
project.
Is the Chamber or any other organization involved in any downtown revitalization
activities, etc.?
Rising Star Business of the Quarter is Cathy Trentham Insurance
Services - Horace Mann Company.
Owned and operated by Cathy Trentham and located
at 504 First St. (inside Century 21 Key office), in Marble Hill, Missouri.
Cathy's Insurance Service has been in operation in its present location now for
15 months. Cathy worked in real estate for the past 25 years and is still
working in that capacity as well as running her insurance services business.
When approached with the opportunity to open her insurance service; after having
her insurance license for several years, though not yet using the license, Cathy
felt this would be a good way to help people save money on a necessary expense
as well as compliment her real estate sales. Founded by educators for educators
more than 65 years ago, Horace Mann proudly serves the needs of America's
educators with auto, home, life insurance, and retirement products. Today they
are the largest national mutliline insurance company focusing on educators.
Anyone is welcome to their products upon qualification, but educators are their
niche market and who they cater to each and every day.
Cathy says her favorite part of her business is " Helping my neighbors and
community save money on a necessary expense and making sure they have adequate
coverage to protect their families. Insurance is a product most people do not
appreciate it until the need is there. I enjoy going into our schools every day
meeting our educators and sharing our products and savings. As a Horace Mann
agent, I also partner with our schools by offering many programs to reward our
educators and students. I give back in many ways by supporting fundraisers,
sponsoring Perfect Attendance Contests, offering workshops, etc. It's a good
feeling at the end of the day to know I have been an encouragement to our
educators in some way. It may be the savings we offer on their insurance needs
or rewarding their energies and dedication they bring to our children".
Cathy feels the most challenging part of her job is "We live in a very busy
world and it is challenging to convince folks to sit down and discuss their
insurance needs. The worse thing you can do is to wait until something happens
before you become concerned with the insurance protection you have. It is very
important to take the time to sit down with a competent agent, give serious
thought and discussion to your needs and then put a proper plan in place. You
can then move on to your day-to-day activities with the peace of mind that if
the need arises, you and your family will be taken care of."
Joining Cathy in her office to help you is Rebekah Ross. Rebekah is a part-time
employee for the time being but is in the process of completing her licensing
for insurance. Rebekah will then be a licensed producer as well.
Cathy states" Being a member of the Bollinger County Chamber of Commerce is
beneficial because it's businesses supporting each other and our community. If
we promote each others efforts it will make our community a better place to live
and work and is, therefore, a win-win for everyone."
In conclusion Cathy would like you to know " Horace Mann Insurance is a company
founded by educators for educators. However, we offer our insurance products to
everyone, not just educators. Therefore, I invite each one to stop by our office
and see what we can do for you!!! Remember, it doesn't cost anything to receive
a quote and it's important to know what your coverages are. It's not always
about the cheapest premium but whether or not your family and assets are
protected adequately."
Cathy Trentham Insurance Services is open 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday thru Friday at
504 First St. (inside Century 21 Key office). You can phone Cathy at the office
at 573-382-0050 or at her home at 573-238-4346. Please try her office cell phone
number first.
Veteran Business of the Quarter is Twin City Pharmacy.
Established in November of 1979, the pharmacy has been in business here for 32
years. Currently owned and operated by Don Brown, Gene Brockett, and Bryan
Kiefer, Twin City Pharmacy is located at 106 N. First Street in Marble Hill. In
2001 the present building was erected, replacing an older building that was
located in front of the current building, next to the street. In 1979 Don Brown
was given the opportunity by Anita Schulte and Gene Brockett to help open the
Twin City Pharmacy. Anita retired in 1993, at which time Don Brown became the
manager and co-owner of the business. Pharmacist Bryan Kiefer recently completed
10 years of service for Twin City Pharmacy and bought into the business in 2008.
Twin City currently employs 3 part time pharmacists, 5 full time pharmacy
technicians, and 4 part time pharmacy technicians.
The majority of Twin City Pharmacy's business involves filling prescriptions,
but they also carry a selection of over the counter products, gifts, greeting
cards, diabetic supplies and recently added a new service with the introduction
of their Photo Kiosk. Having the kiosk allows people to bring in their photos
and download them to the kiosk or even download them from their home computer,
then do any editing they would like on line from their own computer and print
out the results at the pharmacy. This service saves you from making a long trip
out of the county to get your quality prints made. You can also bring in any
photos to get prints or enlargements made at the pharmacy. To make printing
photos even more available you can print from your face book account or from any
media cards you have. If you have any problems using this service the Twin City
Pharmacy employees can assist you to get your photos made and help you get
started in this process. Twin City Pharmacy belongs to the buying group Good
Neighbor Pharmacy which allows them to buy better and offer competitive pricing.
Don says "his favorite part of the business is serving our many customers and
families over the years. We have been fortunate to be of service to several
generations in the last 32 years, helping them improve with healthy outcomes."
According to Don the most challenging part of his business is "Keeping up with
the many changes over the years. This has included new technology, products, and
changes in insurance coverage for prescriptions. In 1979 almost all business was
cash without insurance involvement. Today insurance accounts for about 90% and
cash 10%. Working with pharmacy benefit management companies to get approval for
our customers prescriptions has added to time management challenges for the
pharmacy. We continue to add services and technology to assist with the
increased needs of the community."
Mr. Brown says,"Being a member of the Bollinger County Chamber of Commerce is
important because the Chamber provides a resource for business owners and
creates a better local economy by promoting shop local first. The end result is
better economic health and quality of life for Bollinger County."
You can call the pharmacy at 573-238-4177, or visit them ,Monday thru Friday
from 8:30am to 6:00pm or on Saturday from 8:30am to 12:30pm.at 106 N. First
Street in Marble Hill.
Don't forget to register for the $25 gift certificate, sponsored by the
Bollinger County Chamber of Commerce, when you visit Cathy Trentham Insurance
Services - Horace Mann Co. and Twin City Pharmacy. You might be the lucky winner
in the drawings!
